Definition of Big Data
It is good to realize that there would be no artificial intelligence without big data. The AI algorithms need huge amount of training data to learn from. It also needs immense computing power to be able process all these data.
In recent years, two developments happened at the same time, and gave an enormous boost to AI:
- The advent of the Internet provided vast amounts of data
- Availability of cheap computing processing power sky-rocketed.
So, while we have been focusing on the very real privacy implications of data theft, there is another dimension to it: our data fuel the artificial intelligence of these major tech companies.
